A "non-dogmatic" Bach
Pianist Maurizio Baglini's approach to Johann Sebastian Bach's music is anti-dogmatic, and, even if respecting the philological studies, more in step with the twentieth century post-romantic and expressionist perspective, inaugurated by Ferruccio Busoni's piano transcriptions, as his frequent live performances, but also the 2011 recording for Tudor record label, show.
As a visionary pianist with a taste for musical challenges, Maurizio Baglini has an intense international concert career. Winner at the age 24 of the "World Music Piano Master" of Montecarlo, he regularly performs in venues such as the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Kennedy Center in Washington and he is guest in prestigious festivals, including La Roque d'Anthéron, Yokohama Piano Festival, Australian Chamber Music Festival, "Benedetti Michelangeli" in Bergamo and Brescia. His extensive record production for Decca / Universal includes music by Liszt, Brahms, Schubert, Domenico Scarlatti and Mussorgsky and in 2020 the fifth CD of his complete piano works by Schumann is released. The founder and artistic director of the Amiata Piano Festival, he is the artistic consultant for dance and music at Teatro "Verdi" in Pordenone. In 2019 he was nominated Honorary Member of Aiarp, the Italian Association of Piano Tuners and Repairers. He plays a Fazioli grand piano.
